CONDEMNATION OF SUPREME COURT's ABRUPT JUDGEMENT ON OBC RESERVATION
Action 2007 condemns the Supreme Court's judgment abruptly staying the 27% reservation for backward classes in higher education institutions like IIT, IIM etc. This judgment exposes the caste-class bias of the Indian judiciary and confirms the dominance of elite brahmanical order in the State apparatus.
The bogey of creamy layer has been conveniently used by the Supreme Court and the brahmanical elites callously over looked the fact that the same has not been even discussed as criteria for the donation seats and the private sector.
We call upon all oppressed castes and working people of India to unitedly rise up against this elitist brahmanical judgment and demand a comprehensive legislation including necessary Constitutional amendment, if needed, to secure adequate reservation for Dalits, OBCs, poor minorities and women in jobs and higher educational institutions.

Action 2007 Condemns gross police and RAF violence against Kuki demonstators
We the assembled people's organisations and movements while staging a rally, demonstration at Parliament Street on 23 rd March were witness to the most merciless and horrendous use of violence and force by the Police and Rapid Action Force against Manipuri Kuki students who were also holding a demonstration there. Young women were beaten up and mauled by the male Police and RAF in the absence of women police. Young men already in police custody were beaten until bloody. The police subsequently bombarded the entire area with tear gas shells and lathi charged the protestors who were running away.
We are aware that the demonstrators were protesting the gross injustice and violence against the Kuki community in Manipur and have been demanding protection and justice from the government with no response or action by the authorities at the Centre. We, the undersigned, condemn this excessive use of violence and have submitted a complaint to the National Human Rights Commission, copy of which is attached and pasted below. Please see this report for full details of the police atrocities.
ACTION REQUIRED URGENTLY-PLEASE CALL, e-MAIL, OR FAX AND REGISTER YOUR PROTEST
